Vietnam, as the most eye-catching emerging economy in Southeast Asia in recent years, continues to attract a large amount of foreign investment. At present, Singapore, South Korea and Japan have a large amount of investment in Vietnam. With the gradual liberalization of epidemic prevention and control policies, more and more international enterprises have begun to consult the recent situation of investment in Vietnam.

For now, cheap labor remains a major competitive edge to pull in investment. In a recent survey among U.S. companies, Vietnam has become the first market they are looking to expand in across ASEAN, due to many advantages like low labor costs, good personal security and a stable government and political system.

As of March 20th, 2022, the total newly registered capital, additional capital, contributed capital and the right to buy shares of foreign investors over USD 8.9 billion, equivalent to 87.9% over the same period last year. The capital generated by FDI projects was estimated at USD 4.42 billion, an increase of 7.8% over the same period in 2021.

ADB sustains 6.5% GDP growth forecast for Vietnam in 2022. Ho Chi Minh City’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.45% in October, with eight of the 11 groups of goods and services witnessing an increase in prices, the municipal Statistics Office reported on October 31, 2022.

The Ho Chi Minh City Industrial and Export Processing Zones Management Board (HEPZA) has set a target to increase the average investment per hectare of industrial land to 15 million USD by 2025 from the current 6.32 million USD.
