Armacell, a global leader in flexible foam for the equipment insulation market and a leading provider of engineered foams, today announced the launch of ArmaFlex® UT, an EPDM-based upper temperature flexible foam insulation, into the North American market. The new brand incorporates the former UT SolaFlex EPDM brand portfolio with an expanded range of EPDM products into the widely recognized ArmaFlex family of products.
'"ArmaFlex UT is our latest innovation that comes from listening to our customers. Our decision to rebrand UT SolaFlex into our new ArmaFlex UT expanded portfolio of EPDM products addresses many misperceptions in the marketplace,” says Charles Kistler, General Manager Advanced Insulation. Armacell brings more than half a century of science, expertise, and innovation to foam technology. Armacell’s product portfolio is the widest, most diverse in the elastomeric industry today based on various polymers such as Nitrile/PVC, EPDM, and Neoprene and is complemented with other products within the global Armacell portfolio consisting of next-generation aerogel, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polyolefin technologies. Armacell’s solution-focused approach provides high-performing insulation systems to the industry regardless of material type.
Armacell’s EPDM portfolio satisfies a demand for insulation for highly popular Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, meeting all the requirements of the building codes, specifier, and manufacturer. Many VRF system manufacturers recommend the use of insulation that can sustain temperatures of 250°F on all VRF lines. ArmaFlex UT was developed with VRF systems in mind, performing well for operating temperatures up to 300°F, exceeding competitive EPDM insulation limitations of 257°F for continuous operation.

ArmaFlex UT is suitable to insulate piping and mechanical equipment for HVAC, chilled water, refrigeration, solar collectors, hot gas, dual temperature, low-pressure steam lines, and can be used on stainless steel over 125°F. Plus, ArmaFlex UT provides ultraviolet (UV) resistance per ASTM G90. Note that building codes require protection of insulation in exterior applications. Per ASHRAE 90.1-2019, IECC-2018, and California Title 24 – 2019, all elastomeric foam insulation should be protected from UV and weather exposure.
“The significance of sustainability for our business is demonstrated by the fact that sustainable solutions, which help protect the environment and mitigate climate change, are at the heart of our business model. Through our products and solutions, we are addressing the global megatrends such as energy efficiency, urbanization, light weighting, and acoustic comfort and vibration control,” says Sandy Shattles, Director of Marketing. ArmaFlex UT is a low VOC, non-halogen, and PVC-free elastomeric insulation that is manufactured without CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, PBDEs, or Formaldehyde aligned with Armacell’s commitment to provide sustainable products and solutions.

Armacell’s latest innovation is included in the company’s Solutions Portfolio which bundles insulation products into a comprehensive package aimed at making the specification of the right insulation for all the mechanical systems in a project easier. Using ArmaFlex UT as part of a Solutions Portfolio package qualifies the project for a 10- or 15-year warranty depending on the level of package category. The warranties are contingent on the material being installed by certified companies which have completed the Armacell Qualified Installer Program (AQIP), and that the installation is inspected and approved by an Armacell representative. Specifiers, contractors, and distributors can have confidence that the selected installed products are backed by Armacell’s 70 years of industry expertise.
