Crerax Microspheres and Lightweight Solutions

Crerax microspheres are micro-sized spherical balls that constitute of a thermoplastic shell and a liquid hydrocarbon encapsulated inside the shell. On heating such microspheres, rising temperature will cause the softening of shell material and the gasification of the hydrocarbon liquid inside it. Therefore, the microspheres expand and can grow 80-100 times lager in volume (density as low as 20 kg/m³), being an ideal lightweight filler, foaming agent, and effective problem solver for various materials (thermoplastics, thermosets, thermoplastic elastomer, rubber, silicone, coatings, paper, ceramics, etc.).

Microspheres are mainly used to reduce the density of materials to achieve lightweight and cost reduction, thermal and sound insulation, surface modification, better resilience and compressibility, less shrinkage and warpage, lower dielectric constant, etc. No additional equipment or big change of manufacturing process is required when applying microspheres.
